Scattery Island Heritage Group has been granted funding to support our efforts to gather and preserve oral histories, photographs and artefacts relating to Scattery Island in the 19th and 20th centuries, by digitising and recording these items here, on our Scattery Island digital archive.
Supported by the Heritage Council, our group has been granted funding to buy digitisation equipment under the Community Heritage Grant Scheme 2021.
We are delighted with this grant funding supported by The heritage Council. We are appealing to you, the community to get in touch with us to share any photographs, stories, documents, or other artefacts related to the Scattery Island community that you may have in your possession. You can do so safe in the knowledge that they will be digitally preserved here on our Island archive, credited to you, and that all originals will be handed back to donors.
Help us to make this digital archive a vibrant record of Scattery Island’s “living history”, and help us to capture more oral histories for generations to enjoy and learn from. Contact us
We are planning some events for Heritage week also,August 14-22 2021, so stay tuned to hear further details!
